Check out the second installment in the SunnyBoy photo contest. The theme is loneliness. So get your votes in for the photo that best captures the spirit of loneliness.
Here's some info to get you in the right mind set.
#15 gets my vote. Lots of people find city lights beautiful. But, when I'm looking at a similar view in the A, alone from my window, it just makes me wonder what everyone else in this town behind each of those lights is doing.
#1 Cuz that guy is having a bad day/week/maybe even year. He may not be homeless, i.e. the newish baseball cap, but he's definitely missing something, hence the hands in his pockets that look less like he's keeping them warm and more like he's searching for something. If only he'd look up . . . The eyes say it all. and . . . #6 This poor guy is surrounded by T&A but nothing is for really real. That's MY personal take on LA life. There's a lot that looks really hot on the outside but on the in it's all plastic and poison.
Uhm . . . Can we get a happier photo contest next time guys??? Jeez.
I'm split between 3 and 8. 3 is the lonely laid off trucker with a thin wallet and an empty load, driving away from the setting sun into an uncertain night. 8 is the same trucker earlier that day, fresh with the knowledge that his services will not be needed any longer. JAC
When you think lonely, you think.. by yourself, no one around where people should be around.. I think you take a place where there are suppose to be people, like a schoolyard and you empty it of people and things that have people in them.. and you put 1 person in that canvas with a wide angle lens showing nothing but a person; you get the theme loneliness.
having reconnected with a lot of people from high school on facebook, i can really see how little i paid attention to what others were feeling. that girl captures the loneliness of youth.
#1 because homeless people generally have no friends or family they can depend on or confide in. To me the rest of these photos either portray depression, solitude, or peace.
I vote No. 1 for several reasons. The guy is smoking which is not as socially acceptable, at least in the U.S., as it once was. He's walking on a busy street with people driving cars. He's got a shaggy beer. He just generally looks like someone people could care less about as they whiz by in their cars to jobs or home or dinner.
I'm split between #1 and #2. There's something about the man with head down covered by his cap and smoking along the streets in a b&w photo. As for the second photo, where and who is she looking at? She's at a nondescript alley alone and 'out of reach'. -Mona

Voting the only way I know how to vote at the pushing of Sonia - #1, what I will call Lonely Homeless Man, Who is Most Likely Crazy.
I vote for #15. City of Lights. Can't tell if the city's on fire or fighting back against the night. Which is kind of how I feel in general about LA.
I vote for #1, Havana man.
My vote is for number 2 all the way. There is something I find very amazing about that black and white photo. HK
I vote for #10. It actually made me feel lonely just looking at it! :(
I like #10 as well.
I vote for number 4.

I vote for #4.
My vote is split between #4 and #13!

#1 Definitely.
There is a lot more emotion in this photograph than the others. The world keeps turning over and around this guy...
TimP here---My vote for #10

I'm voting for #6. It feels like the dude is a lone voice against uniformity.

1st place: #4
2nd place: #1
3rd place: #8
So hard to decide, but these 3 really captured the loneliness in each individual.
#9. Its the least obvious, so its my favorite. You don't have to be alone to feel lonely.
I meant #8 not #9, sorry
All of the images that were submitted are stunning!!
#11 gets my vote.
#12 in a close second.

8 and 14 ... can I vote for 2?

#11. my first thought of someone's shoes on the railroad track sign was suicide. doesn't get much lonlier than that.
#10
My vote is for #6 as that is true loneliness.
#15
In a sea of lights, no shore to anchor, drifting aimlessly alone, with the agony of loneliness radiating from within.

I vote for #14. A lot of the photos show alone but I feel like #14 shows how we are lonely even though surrounded by activity and other people.
I vote for number 4. The dusky lighting, defeated posture, and isolation in an enclosed courtyard portrays loneliness.
Number 10
Number 10

definitely #1, so lonely.
I liked number 7 and 14. There was a lot of loneliness written on the older man's face and in #14 it shows the big city to be a lonely place.
14 (1st) and 8 (2nd)
7! Can't believe I'm the only one voting for 7 ! )
